Welcome

Welcome to the Mt Waverley and Chadstone InterChurch Council Home Page

Over the last 39 years, representatives from the various Christian denominations in the Mt Waverley and Chadstone region of Melbourne have been meeting as an InterChurch Council.

The Mt Waverley and Chadstone InterChurch Council is a fellowship of Mount Waverley churches and Chadstone churches bounded by Warrigal Rd., Highbury Rd., Blackburn Rd. and Ferntree Gully Rd, seeking to fulfil the common call to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, to make such unity more apparent than any divisions and to initiate and/or give every possible encouragement to local ecumenical projects.

On an annual basis we celebrate together the Easter and Pentecost seasons of the Christian church.

The MT WAVERLEY AND CHADSTONE INTER-CHURCH COUNCIL exists to:

  • promote awareness that the unity in life and mission of all Christ’s people is the will of God;

  • seek to make such unity more apparent than our divisions;

  • initiate and/or give every possible encouragement to local ecumenical projects;

  • provide a means whereby member churches can develop methods of decision-making in common

2015 marked the 30th Anniversary of the Mount Waverley/Chadstone InterChurch Council. The first meeting of the MWCICC was held on the 14th October 1985. Member churches had previously been part of the Waverley Council of Churches which dates back to the 7th June, 1965.

A short history entitled “Many Voices – One Body….The Story of the Mount Waverley/Chadstone Inter-Church Council” has been written to commemorate this event.  Copies have been provided to all member churches and are available at a small cost to other interested parties.
